Drug Prevacid Information – Prevacid and Dosage
How to take Prevacid
Prevacid is usually taken once a day, just before a meal. Prevacid capsules should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed. If you are unable to swallow capsules whole you can open the capsule and pour the contents onto one tablespoon of applesauce, pudding, cottage cheese or yogurt and then swallow them immediately. You could also pour the capsules contents into 2 ounces of orange or tomato juice and swallow them immediately.
Note: You should continue taking Prevacid even if you feel better. Never stop taking Prevacid medication unless instructed to do so by your physician. The number of capsules prescribed per-day depends on the strength of the prescription drug. In addition, the amount of capsules taken, the time between doses, and the duration the drug is taken is dependant on the medical problem related to the prescription and the discretion of the physician prescribing the drug. Always Follow the directions given to you by your physician or pharmacist!
Missed Prevacid dose
If your physician or pharmacist has ordered you to take Prevacid medicine an a regular schedule and you have missed a Prevacid dose you can take it as soon as you remember. If you remember close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Never double dose!
Prevacid overdose
Get medical attention immediately! If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call your local emergency services immediately (Dial 911).
