Safety And Quality
Just as the United States does, Canada and other licensed
affiliated pharmacies have exceptionally high standards for pharmaceutical manufacturing, along with a rigorous approval system.
Canadian Meds USA and TCDS will not send you any drug that does not have an approved version in the United States. Many of the drugs sold in Canada and other licensed affiliated pharmacies are exactly the same as those sold in the U.S. Some drugs may have a different name or look different than the one you are familiar with in the U.S. For example, in Canada the U.S. drug "Prilosec" is called "Losec" and is a pill rather than a capsule, even though it is in fact the same drug and is made by the same manufacturer.
Generic Drugs
In addition to the substantial savings that can be realized, it is important to note that generic drugs that have been approved in Canada and the UK are completely safe and have the same therapeutic effect as the corresponding brand name drug. As is the case in the U.S., generic drug manufacturers must produce products that have the same active ingredients and dosage as the brand name, and that are absorbed and utilized by the body in exactly the same way. The generic drugs produced in Canada are used by millions of Canadian citizens on a daily basis and, just as in the U.S., are subject to the same strict approval and regulation as brand name drugs. The manufacturers of these generic drugs are large and well-respected companies. In Canada, these companies include Apotex, Novopharm and Genpharm.
Congressional Study Confirms Quality of Canadian Drug System
On May 28, 2003, at the request of members of the U.S. Congress, the Congressional Research Service published an analysis that confirms that the Canadian prescription drug regulatory system is
substantially equivalent to that of the United States
in all material respects.
