Lozide is used in the treatment of high blood pressure either alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications. Lozide is also used to relieve salt and fluid retention. During pregnancy your doctor may prescribe Lozide to relieve fluid retention caused by a specific condition or when fluid retention causes extreme discomfort that is not relieved by rest.
ADULTS
High Blood Pressure
The usual starting dose is 1.25 milligrams as a single daily dose taken in the morning. If Lozide does not seem to be working for you your doctor may gradually increase your dosage up to 5 milligrams taken once a day.
Fluid Build-up in Congestive Heart Failure
The usual starting dose is 2.5 milligrams as a single daily dose taken in the morning. Your doctor may increase your dosage to 5 milligrams taken once daily.
