Generic name: Budesonide


Rhinocort is an anti-inflammatory steroid medication. It is prescribed for relief of the symptoms of hay fever and other nasal inflammations.

RHINOCORT NASAL INHALER

The usual recommended starting dose for adults and children 6 years of age and older is 256mcg a day either as two sprays in each nostril twice a day morning and evening or as four sprays in each nostril once a day in the morning. Your doctor may lower the dose once relief of symptoms occurs. Rhinocort is not recommended for use in children with nasal irritation not due to allergies. Safety and effectiveness in children under 6 have not been established.

RHINOCORT AQUA

Adults

The recommended starting dose for adults and children over 12 is 64 micrograms per day administered as 1 spray per nostril once a day. The maximum recommended dose is 256 micrograms per day administered as 4 sprays per nostril once a day.

Children

The recommended starting dose for children between 6 and 12 years of age is 64 micrograms per day administered as one spray per nostril once a day. The maximum recommended dose for children in this age group is 128 micrograms per day administered as 2 sprays per nostril once a day. The safety and effectiveness of Rhinocort Aqua in children under 6 have not been established.
